How to use ghd Straightening Irons
Straightening irons have become the number one tool in every girl’s beauty kit. Whether getting ready for a day at work or a night out on the town with girlfriends, a straightening iron will make you feel a million dollars. The versatility of a great straightening iron is unlike any other hair tool available. Straight, curly, sleek, full, all these styles can be achieved with a great straightening iron.
Here are the most important secrets that you need to know to make your hair look amazing every time…. Number 1: It’s all about the plates on the iron.
What’s this you ask? Don’t worry too much about the colour (yes make sure it matches your personality)
It’s the plates that matter most. The plates are the areas that get hot. This needs to be curved on the edge. I bet no one has told you that before! That is why the ghd straightening iron is my favorite iron. Have you wondered why when you try to twist the iron around your hair to create that curl you hairdresser does so well, why there are always lines and straight bits? It’s because it comes down to the plates. Look closely at a ghd hair straightener and you will notice the edge is curved. Other irons have a square edge. Round edge creates curl, square edge creates sharp corners.
The second most important thing is the shampoo and conditioner you use. DONOT use products like Panteene and Fruitessenes or what ever those “miracle” products are. They are nothing more that heavy silicon that sits on the out side of your hair and weigh it down. I can’t stress this point enough. I can tell while curling some ones hair if they use one of those products. How? Hair washed with those products doesn’t hold a curl, as the hair is weighed down with silicon. Use shampoos and conditioners made to repair the hair and give your hair shine and bounce.
The third most important thing is the size of the sections. Yes it might be faster to take big sections, but this will make your work harder as you will then have to go over the same section over and over again, wasting time and causing frustration. Take your sections no bigger than the size of the ghd plate. If you have the big ghd your sections will be bigger than with the medium one. If your sections are too big, the hair falls out of the edge of the ghd, this makes the hair look only half curled. Take neat sections and pin the rest of the hair out of the way. The first few times this will take a while, but once you have mastered the technique you will save time. The other reason this needs to done correctly as it helps hold the curl all day. Ever wondered why you curl your hair and it falls out within 1 hr? It’s because it never got hot enough.
