It is hard to find Melbourne makeup artists. Do you go for price, products used, experience?
Well the answer is all of the above.
Price: Not because they are cheap, not because they are the most expensive… Cheap doesn’t need to be explained. However I know of some Melbourne makeup artists running around town saying they are the best because they have worked on an Australian TV show. This doesn’t make them great, and just on a Tv show may mean you are in charge of the babys and children on it. There is one artist who was working with one of our hairstylists, she spent the whole time telling the bridal party will these famous people she met and kept finishing the sentence with how much she is not into famous people. Our Sally got a real laugh out of it until the bridal party pulled Sally aside to tell her how upset they were with they makeup as it look horrible. That is when Sally realised it wasn’t funny and was herself fuming to know that some Melbourne makeup artists can be so hopeless.
Products they use: MOST professional makeup brands are hypo-allergenic and last well. What ever any makeup artist tells you don’t believe that natural makeup is good. It doesn’t last!!! You need something to last through from 8am till the next day. OUr bridesmaids have told us how they have still worn their makeup the next day, and that the false lashes last 3-4 days.
Experience: One word… TRIAL! Once you have looked at the website and decided that the artist is what you are looking for. Have a trial to see if what they tell you, they can deliver. Have it as soon as possible so you still have choices if all else fails.
