SOME VERY IMPORTANT TIPS FOR YOUR DAY
As this is your first experience in being a bride we have put together the most important things you need to know.
1. Don’t choose a hair and makeup based on price. You spent a whole lot of money on shoes and cars…. Don’t scrimp on hair and makeup. We at Forever Flawless meet brides all the time who firstly went for the cheap option, only to have a trial and regret wasting money and time on it.
How do you know if they are good?
1.Research your options- go to forums, ask other brides
2.If a makeup artist turns up with a brand new shiny kit… RUN… She has just finished her course. We have heard of new artists who say they will have you ready on time, but they run late. Experienced artists know how much time to allow.
3.If an artist insists on needing to see every bridesmaids hair and what style they want before the big day…RUN… This also shows lack of experience. A professional stylist should be able to show up and complete all hair styles without needing to practice them.
4.Does the hair and makeup artist have only two brides on her website at all different angles? Where are the rest? Sometime brides forget to send photos after their weddings or sometimes the photographer didn’t take any nice close ups. But a professional artist should have at least a collection of different brides.
2. Have a trial If an artist can fit you in on any Saturday morning during summer, be worried. The best artists are booked out during the peak season 6-18 months in advance! The chances of getting an elite artist in the 3 months before you wedding is rare.
Don’t hold your trial too close to your wedding. We suggest 6-12 months before hand. What happens if your not happy? How will you find a replacement in time?
3. LASHES Unless you have been blessed with amazing lashes, you MUST get lashes. But what ever you do don’t get those big thick bar lashes. Only have a few individuals in the corner. Maybe a few more if you like dramatic. The problem with bar lashes are they are uncomfortable and can come off during the day.
Individual lashes willl never move and can last for up to 3 days afterwards.
4. Timing
The hair and makeup artist have to work around your photographer. Once the photographer sets his/her time the artist works backwards from there. We may even start extra bridal guests after the photographer arrives, however the bride and bridesmaids should be ready or close to ready by the time the photographer arrives.
5. Rudeness
No matter how great or who the hair and makeup artist has “done” before, there is NO REASON for her to be rude!!!! You should NEVER feel intimidated by the hair and makeup artist. A professional artist loves their job and loves making sure a bride looks AND feels their best on their special day.
6. YOU MUST STAY LOOKING LIKE YOURSELF!!!
If an artists turns up to a trial saying she will make you look like someone else then she is not the person you want helping you on your most special day. Your fiance asked to marry YOU!!!
Enhance your natural beauty, give your hair some body, if you don’t feel confortable with it up, don’t do it. Don’t pile your face with so much fondation that you need a shovel to remove it…. and god-forbid you smile as it will crack (yeah great photo op!)
Airbrush makeup is so light it looks like you are wearing nothing at all, best of all it covers every imperfection without looking thick or giving a patchy result.
If you normally wear heavy eye makeup then make your eyes dramatic, however if you are use to just a coat of mascara, then let the experts contour your eyes to make them pop with just a hint of eyeshadow.
7. You MUST have airbrush makeup
